About Us

When my family, John and I originally blessed the land that Sugars Villas sits on, the Hindu priest told me that this site would bring me great happiness in the form of friends and family. Over the years that prophecy has come true time and time again. There seems to be something about Sugars Villas that just draws people here.

People often tell me it’s the lush gardens and rice paddy views, the warm and welcoming staff, and the relaxed ambiance. They also like the fact that we are located away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets of Ubud, but still close to world-class restaurants, shops, art galleries and bars. Perhaps it is all these things together that makes Sugars a place where locals, expats and travellers gather to enjoy great food and drink, great conversations, and hours spent relaxing and recharging next to the pool.

I feel blessed to have made so many great friends over the years, many of whom return on a regular basis. And every time they return, I welcome them with open arms back into the Sugars family fold. I also feel grateful for the opportunity to meet new people from around the world and offer them a tranquil abode and a base from which they can explore the incredible nature and culture of the island that I call home.
